A parade, jalapeno pepper contest, children’s games, Sam Bass Shootout and fireworks are all part of the City of Round Rock’s July 4 Frontier Days Celebration. It's a day of fun with the annual parade, pony rides, inflatables and children’s games, arts and crafts vendors, Ballet Folklorico dancers and a reenactment of the historical Sam Bass Shootout, all leading up to the annual fireworks celebration.

Independence Day festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with free watermelon at the Lakeview Pavilion. Next, a skydiver will fly into the festivities; then guests will enjoy music from the Austin Symphonic Band with the fireworks display beginning after dark.

Schedule of Events

Friday, July 4 (schedule subject to change)

8 am

Footsteps for Freedom  (Free Mayors Council on Fitness event). Join the City of Round Rock as we support our troops and exercise! Join the City of Round Rock invited families from Fort Hood and Round Rock to walk with us down main street before the parade. Come exercise with us!

10 am

Parade - Bring donations for the troops!
Parade in downtown RR. As part of the City of Round Rock Adopt a Unit campaign, bring items to the parade to donate to our troops! The City has adopted an army unit and parade goers are encouraged to help us fill a truck load of items to send to our soldiers! If you miss the parade, bring your donations to the Care Package drop off at 7 pm by the Lakeview Pavilion.  Requested items

Sam Bass Shootout
The Sam Bass Shootout will be a live historical reenactment of the infamous Sam Bass and his gang, Deputy Sheriff A.W. Grimes and Deputy Sheriff Morris Moore.  The live show tells the story of the “Sam Bass gang” arriving in Round Rock with intentions to rob the bank and the resulting confrontation between Sam Bass and Sheriff A.W. Grimes.

Pepper Eating Contest
Can you handle the heat? Come to the Lakeview Pavilion to have a chance to win eating jalapeno peppers! Contest application and rules

Care Package Drop Off - adopt a unit
Care package donation drop off - As part of the City of Round Rock's Adopt a Unit Campaign, we will be collecting items to give to our troops at the Lakeview Pavilion. Round Rock has partnered with Fort Hood and is supporting our troops with thank you notes and supplies. If you have any questions about your donation, please call 512-218-5403.

Watermelon is served to you by your city council and city staff! Enjoy as a truckload of watermelon is cut and handed out on a first-come basis!
 8 pm Skydivers
8:30 pm   Music from Austin Symphonic Band  Enjoy patriotic music leading up to the fireworks and during the show from the Austin Symphonic Band.
 Dusk Fireworks!  (its gotta be dark! Expect fireworks around 8:45/9 pm.)

Parade: It's fun to be a part of the Frontier Days parade. Whether watching the parade go down Main Street or being an actual part of the parade! It'll be a lot of fun. The parade route begins at the intersection of 620 and IH 35 traveling west down Main Street past the library.
Be in the parade: Grab a trailer, decorate a bicycle, grab your friends and be a part of the fun! Then watch the Frontier Days Parade on Channel 10 after the event! Parade application

Traffic Plan for Fireworks 

When its time to go home, Harrell Parkway will become a one-way road to help everyone exit the park. Please have patience as everyone exits the park. Please review the full traffic plan and details so you'll know how to get back home! Thanks for your cooperation!
